UMCOR seeks donations
for project in Cuba

                 by United Methodist News Service

Local United Methodist churches are being invited to
participate in a United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
project to send tools and construction materials to Cuba.
The purpose is to help the Methodist Church in Cuba rebuild,
repair and maintain its properties. UMCOR has been issued a
restricted export license by the U.S. government that allows the
shipment.
Churches or individuals interested in the project can receive
a seven-page list of specific items covered on the license.
Examples include three 5,000-watt generators, 39 long-handled
shovels and 1,000 electrical wire nuts.
The list is available by calling (800) 814-8765 between 9
a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time, through Mission Fax at (800) 793-
5415 or on the World Wide Web at: http://gbgm-umc.org/divisions
/umcor
A church or individual can "claim" one or more items on the
list by calling the 800 telephone number. All items must be
shipped, at the donor's expense, to the UMCOR depot in Baldwin,
La., by June 20.
Money toward unclaimed items and shipping costs can be
donated through local congregations to Advance No. 982860-8,
UMCOR/VIM Aid to Cuba.
