Eight annual conferences being honored
for supporting apportionments 100 percent

                 by United Methodist News Service

     Red Bird Missionary Conference was the first of eight annual
(regional) conferences to be honored for supporting the world-wide
mission and ministry of the United Methodist Church by paying 100
percent of its apportionment asking during 1995.
     The Rev. M. Ervin Dailey of the United Methodist
Communications field staff presented a plaque of appreciation to
Bishop Robert C. Morgan, Louisville Area, May 10 during the Red
Bird Conference sessions at the Beverly (Ky.) United Methodist
Church.  The plaque, given by United Methodist Communications and
the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA), will be
displayed at the conference offices in Beverly.
     Dailey praised the conference for its more than 10-year
history of paying general church apportionments in full.
     Part of the Louisville Area, Red Bird Missionary Conference
has 25 churches and three outreach centers located in Appalachia.
     Plaques of appreciation will be presented to the following
annual conferences during their 1996 sessions: Central
Pennsylvania, June 7-9; Iowa, June 7-10; Peninsula-Delaware, June
7-9; South Indiana, June 12-14; West Michigan, June 11-14; and
Wisconsin, May 30-June 2. 
     The autonomous affiliated Methodist Church of Puerto Rico,
meeting June 5-9, continues to participate in the international
mission and ministry of the United Methodist Church through
support of the denomination's general funds and also will receive
a plaque for 100 percent support.
