Annual award established
for campus ministers

     NASHVILLE, (UMNS) -- The United Methodist Foundation for
Christian Higher Education has established an award to honor
campus ministers who show outstanding sensitivity to the
relationship between the United Methodist Church and its colleges
and universities.
     The Campus Minister of the Year award program will begin
during the 1996-97 academic year.
     Planned to be given annually, the $5,000 grant is to be used
for programming at the campus ministry unit, said George Miller,
president of the United Methodist Foundation.
     Bishops, district superintendents and other annual conference
leaders are encouraged to nominate candidates each year beginning
this fall.
     The award recipient will be selected for excelling in at
least three of the following areas:

university's relationship to the United Methodist Church;
     * developing voluntary community service programs;
     * enhancing the spiritual growth of students;
