BRISTOL, TENN.--Two recent gifts will put King College closer to claiming 
the $3 million Grass Roots Package, an important part of "The Campaign for 
King College." Tri-City Bank, an affiliate of First Virginia Bank, Inc., 
made a donation toward the Charlie Joe Long Memorial Scholarship at King 
College, which was established by the bank in honor of Long, former 
president and chairman of the board and a 1912 graduate of King College. A 
second gift will benefit the operational budget at King.  Both gifts can be 
counted toward claiming the $3 million Grass Roots Package Challenge 
extended to King last September by 14 generous donors. In order to claim 
the $3 million, King College must raise an equivalent amount from its other 
campaign donors. Successfully meeting this challenge will put the college 
over the halfway mark of the $12 million "Campaign for King College," which 
will fund additional scholarships, faculty and staff salaries, and campus 
improvements for student life and academic programs.
