96048          Graninger Named General Counsel For 
                 The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--G.A. "Pat" Goff, Corporate and Administrative Services 
(CAS) director, announced Jan. 25 that Eric Graninger has been promoted to 
the position of general counsel of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), to 
fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Carolyn Shain. 
 
     Graninger has been associate general counsel since 1989. As general 
counsel, Graninger will be responsible for the coordination of legal 
activities for the GAC and the Office of the General Assembly (OGA), and 
for providing functional guidance to other governing bodies of the church. 
 
     Graninger received his bachelor of arts degree in 1982 from Indiana 
University in Bloomington, Ind., and graduated from the Indiana University 
School of Law in 1985.
