96046         General Assembly Deadlines Reiterated

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Responding to numerous requests from around the church, 
the Department of Assembly Services of the Office of the General Assembly 
has reissued the following deadlines for various preparatory work for the 
208th General Assembly (1996), June 29-July 6 in Albuquerque: 
 
March 1:  Deadline for presbyteries to submit their lists of commissioners 
          and youth advisory delegates 
 
March 1:  120-day deadline for Assembly business that proposes changes to 
          the Constitution 
 
March 1:  First mailing of General Assembly registration forms to 
          commissioners and youth advisory delegates 
 
March 14: General Assembly moderator Marj Carpenter, in consultation with 
          the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly, appoints 
          General Assembly committee leadership 
 
April 15: General Assembly committee assignments mailed to commissioners 
          and advisory delegates 
 
April 30: 60-day deadline for Assembly business to be printed in the 
          Reports to the General Assembly 
 
May 15:   45-day deadline for Assembly business to be handled by the 208th 
          General Assembly 
 
May 24:   Deadline for returning General Assembly registration forms to 
          request Assembly housing 
 
June 6-8: Leadership briefing for moderators, vice moderators, committee 
          assistants and resource coordinators of General Assembly 
          committees 
 
June 29:  208th General Assembly (1996) convenes in Albuquerque
