     The Rev. Joseph B. Rightmyer, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian 
Church in Jackson, Miss., has been named executive director of 
Presbyterians for Renewal.  He succeeds Betty Moore of Florence, 
S.C., who retired at the end of 1994 after serving as the group's 
executive director since its inception in 1989. 
     Rightmyer will be based in Louisville, where the corporate 
offices of Presbyterians for Renewal are located.

     A two-page spread in the March issue of "Life" magazine 
profiles Nhan Nguyen, a Vietnamese refugee whose resettlement to 
the United States in 1980 was sponsored by First Presbyterian 
Church, Tallahassee, Fla.  The spread is an advertisement for the 
affirmative-action programs of Publix Supermarkets, where Nhan is 
employed. 
     Nhan was married in First Church, where he is a member.  He 
and his wife are parents of a 20-month-old son.

     "Newsweek" reports that Angela Davis, 51, the '60s radical who 
became infamous in Presbyterian circles when she received a $10,000 
legal defense fund grant in 1971, has been appointed to a 
prestigious faculty position by the University of California at 
Davis to increase feminist and ethnic studies at the school. 
     Davis, a tenured professor at the University of California at 
Santa Cruz, was acquitted of murder charges in the case that led to 
the Presbyterian grant 24 years ago.

     Linda G. Green of Columbia, S.C., has been named director of 
the Nashville office of the United Methodist News Service, 
effective March 1.  Green, who has worked for South Carolina 
Methodist newspaper since 1988, succeeds M. Garlinda Burton, who 
was recently named editor of "Interpreter," a program journal of 
the United Methodist Church. 
     The United Methodist News Service is the official news agency 
of the denomination.  Offices are located in Nashville, Washington 
and New York.  Director is Thomas S. McAnally.
