     The Rev. Felipe Adolf, a pastor of the Argentine Congregational 
Church, has been reelected for his third term as general secretary of the 
Latin American Council of Churches, which represents mainstream Latin 
American Protestant churches.  Adolf has been general secretary since 1984. 
His current term will end in 1998.

     The Rev. Andrea F. DeGroot-Nesdahl, 45, was elected bishop of the 
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's South Dakota Synod on June 6.  She 
is the second woman in North America and the sixth in the world to be 
elected a bishop in the Lutheran church.
