95062 CHANGES IN NEWS BRIEFS DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCED

                     by Jerry L. Van Marter

Beginning with the next issue, every church in the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will begin receiving a copy of "News
Briefs" each week. This will increase the circulation of "News
Briefs" from its current 3,000 to approximately 15,000.

To cut down on mailing list maintenance, each church's copy
will be addressed to "Pastor/Head of Staff." The first several
issues to this expanded audience will include suggestions on how
to further disseminate the news to other church staff, elders,
deacons and members of congregations.

To make this expanded circulation affordable, "News Briefs"
will be mailed second class (currently it goes first class). The
Postal Service has assured us that by mailing on Friday and thereby
utilizing the weekend, 90 percent of those who receive "News
Briefs" will receive it just as quickly second class as they would
first class.

To make this transition possible, next week's "News Briefs"
will be delayed. Instead of being dated March 10, it will be dated
March 17 and should arrive the middle of that week. Each
subsequent issue will be dated the Friday of the week you receive
it.

We hope this increased distribution will enable more
Presbyterians to know more about their denomination.
