MALMBERG AND JOHNSON NAMED TO MODERATE NEW ASSEMBLY

95197  MALMBERG AND JOHNSON NAMED TO MODERATE NEW ASSEMBLY 
            COMMITTEE ON THE REPORT ON RECONCILIATION

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Elder Richard Malmberg of the Presbytery of Northern 
Kansas will moderate the new 51-member General Assembly Committee on the 
Report on Reconciliation, according to Deborah Davies, manager of Assembly 
Services in the Office of the General Assembly. 
 
     The vice-moderator is the Rev. Kathryn Johnson of Princeton 
Theological Seminary, a member of Santa Barbara Presbytery, Davies said. 
 
      Stated Clerk the Rev. James E. Andrews authorized formation of the 
new committee upon recommendation of the Committee on the Office of the 
General Assembly during its May 31-June 2 meeting here.  Moderator the Rev. 
Robert W. Bohl initiated the request for the additional committee. 
 
     Commissioners will be assigned to this 18th Assembly committee by a 
random and anonymous selection process defined in the standing rules.  The 
entire committee is expected to be in place by the end of this week, Davies 
said. 
 
     Elder Betty Jane Crago of Baltimore Presbytery will be the committee's 
assistant. Its resource coordinator will be the Rev. Harriet Nelson of 
Redwoods Presbytery. 
 
     Crago formerly was the assistant to the Assembly's Evangelism 
Committee and a replacement is currently being sought.  Elder Rebecca 
Stricklin of Cincinnati Presbytery replaces Malmberg as vice-moderator of 
the Assembly Christian Vocation Committee.
