95127     PRESBYTERIAN COMMUNICATORS WIN NATIONAL AWARDS

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) communicators have won nine 
1994 DeRose/Hinkhouse Awards from the Religious Public Relations Council 
(RPRC).  Winners in the nationwide competition were announced March 30. 
 
     A total of 105 awards were presented at three levels: Best of Class, 
Award of Merit and Award of Excellence. 
 
     Leading the Presbyterian way was "Presbyterian Life and Times," the 
newsletter of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies.  Its editor, Barbara Ladd, 
received a Best of Class Award in the regional newsletter category. 
"Presbyterian Life and Times" also received an Award of Excellence. 
 
     Eileene Johnson MacFalls, associate for promotion for "HORIZONS" 
magazine, won two Awards of Merit, for a promotional poster and a 
subscription brochure for the magazine of Presbyterian Women. 
 
     The Stewardship Education Team of the Congregational Ministries 
Division won an Award of Merit in the booklet category for "Stewardship 
1994." 
 
     Eva Stimson, associate editor of "Presbyterian Survey," and Jerry Van 
Marter of the Presbyterian News Service won an Award of Merit for their 
news story on the Re-imagining Conference controversy, which appeared in 
the March 1994 issue of "Presbyterian Survey." 
 
     Jose Villarreal, director of communications for the Synod of Lakes and 
Prairies, won an Award of Merit for a children's dramatic video, "Winds 
Over Dakota." 
 
     Ann Gillies, coordinator for media services in the Congregational 
Ministries Division, won an Award of Merit in the same category for 
"Selling the Cracks."  Gillies also received an Award of Excellence in the 
television or cable series category for "Hosanna Industries."
