95211      ECUMENICAL SERVICE MARKING 50TH ANNIVERSARY 
                OF UNITED NATIONS TO BE TELEVISED

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Vision Interfaith Satellite Network (VISN), co-founded 
by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), will televise an ecumenical worship 
service celebrating the 50th anniversary of the United Nations on June 
25th. 
 
     The live telecast will be carried by the Faith & Values Channel from 7 
to 8 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time. 
 
     U.N. Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Princess Margaret of 
Great Britain and Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa are the among the 
world leaders who will participate in the service at Grace Episcopal 
Cathedral in San Francisco.  Representatives of 44 world religions are 
planning to attend. 
 
     The U.N. Charter was signed in San Francisco in June 1945. 
 
     Participating musical groups, reflecting the religious and cultural 
diversity of the participants, include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, 
the Baha'i World Choir of Northern California, the Interfaith Choir of San 
Francisco, the Temple Emanu-El Choir of San Francisco, the Tongan 
Traditional Interfaith Choir and the Sikh Dharma Choir.  
 
     Those wishing to watch the program should check their local television 
listings or call their local cable company.
