                      by Jerry L. Van Marter

On May 26, Teri Thomas, general presbyter for National Capital
Presbytery, and the Rev. John "Jack" Wineman, executive presbyter for
Winnebago Presbytery, were married in Washington, D.C.
In keeping with the middle governing body theme, the wedding was
performed by the Rev. Roger Harp, executive presbyter for Homestead
Presbytery, and the Rev. Jill Hudson, executive presbyter for Whitewater
Valley Presbytery.
Wineman has resigned from the Winnebago Presbytery post and the
newlyweds will make their home in the Washington area.

The Rev. Mark Wendorf, associate for social welfare organizations in
the National Minstries Division in Louisville and executive director of the
Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association (PHEWA), has
announced his resignation, effective July 9, in order to accept a call as
assistant professor for urban ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary in
Chicago.
Wendorf has headed PHEWA for the past five years. Prior to that he
was an urban pastor in Cincinnati. In a letter to the PHEWA board of
directors, Wendorf insisted that his resignation was unrelated to recent
criticism of PHEWA. "You know me well enough to know that I do not run from
any struggle," he wrote.
Wendorf cited the opportunity to return to Chicago, where he began his
career in urban ministry, his love for the Chicago Cubs, and the chance "to
immerse myself in urban ministry and to create an urban ministry program"
as the reasons for his move.
