New executive officer announced
for Faith and Values Channel
by United Methodist News Service
Garry E. Hill, formerly of Z Music Television, has been named
chief executive officer of the New York-based Faith & Values
channel (F&V).
It was announced recently that F&V will change its name to
Odyssey Oct. 1.
The announcement of Hill's selection was made by Wil Bane,
chair of VISN Management Corp., majority owner of F&V, on June 18.
Hill's appointment is "a perfect fit," Bane said. "After an
extensive search, we found someone who combines a strong business
background with a firm commitment to the type of programming F&V
is mandated to provide."
In speaking of his new position, Hill calls F&V "a network
poised for growth. With an overwhelming number of Americans
seeking the answers to life's questions from a spiritual
perspective, as well as the incredible demand for good, clean and
wholesome entertainment, we will be the network that America is
demanding," Hill predicted.
The 46-year-old Hill served as executive vice president and
general manager of Z Music Television where he was the primary
architect of the network's successful repositioning campaign. The
Nashville-based music video network is managed by Gaylord
Entertainment Co.
At Z, he was responsible for assuring a "unity of vision"
within the entire company in order to maintain focus on
programming enhancements to foster subscriber growth and ratings
improvement.
Hill succeeds Nelson Price, who was CEO of F&V for six years.
The Faith & Values Channel reaches 30 million households on
nearly 1,600 cable systems nationwide. It is owned jointly by
subsidiaries of the National Interfaith Cable Coalition Inc.
(NICC) and of Tele-Communications Inc.(TCI). NICC is a consortium
of 64 Protestant, Jewish Catholic and Eastern Orthodox faith
groups and evangelical traditions including the United Methodist
Church.
