96231 Tentmakers Schedule 1996 Conference
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The ways in which the forms of tentmaking ministry affect
the theology and practices of congregations and tentmakers will be the
focus of the Association of Presbyterian Tentmakers (APT) 1996 annual
conference.
With the theme "Witnesses to the Word," the APT conference, the
association's 10th, will be held Nov. 1-3 at Stony Point Conference Center
in New York.
Tentmakers are pastors who serve in ministry while earning their
livings in secular employment.
Keynote speaker for the event is the Rev. Houston Hodges, recently
retired executive for North Alabama Presbytery and currently editor of
"Monday Morning" magazine.
The conference will also include conversations with representatives of
the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Board of Pensions about how the Board's
retirement and major medical plans apply to tentmakers and with an expert
in financial planning and management.
Information about the conference is available from William Dodge,
conference chair, at 1123 Lexington Ave., Schenectady, NY 12309. He can
also be reached by PresbyNet (inbox BILL DODGE) or by Internet mail at
bill_dodge@pcusa.org.
