    Eighteen former moderators endorse Kirkpatrick candidacy 
 
ALBUQUERQUE--In an open letter to General Assembly commissioners, 18 former 
Assembly moderators have endorsed the candidacy of the Rev. Clifton 
Kirkpatrick for General Assembly Stated Clerk.  Kirkpatrick is the nominee 
of the Stated Clerk Search Committee. 
 
    Citing their experience in working with the General Assembly Stated 
Clerk, the moderators' letter states, "We believe that Clifton Kirkpatrick 
has the experience and qualities that are needed in this position." 
 
    The letter was signed by Clinton Marsh (1973), Robert C. Lamar (1974), 
Sara B. Moseley (1978), Howard Rice (1979-UPCUSA), Albert C. Winn 
(1979-PCUS), Charles Hammond (1980), Dorothy Barnard (1981), John F. 
Anderson (1982), J. Randolph Taylor (1983), Harriet Nelson (1984), Benjamin 
Weir (1986), Isabel Wood Rogers (1987), Price H. Gwynn III (1990), Herbert 
D. Valentine (1991), John M. Fife (1992), David Dobler (1993), Robert W. 
Bohl (1994) and Marj Carpenter (1995).
