Teleconference on radio ministries
still open for additional downlink sites

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) -- More than 20 downlink sites for
"Reach Out with Radio," a Sept. 10 satellite teleconference from
United Methodist Communications (UMCom), have been registered, but
more are wanted.
United Methodist pastors, media specialists, outreach
leaders, communicators, evangelism leaders, Christian educators,
age-level coordinators and local church communications committee
members are invited to register additional sites for the two-hour
event (1-3 p.m. [EDT]).
Produced by UMCom's Radio Ministries unit with assistance
from United Methodist Teleconference Connection (UMTC), "Reach Out
With Radio" will examine a radio campaign from original concept to
placement; explore theological processes and broadcasting; explain
what a local station wants; explore how some churches, districts
and conferences use radio; and showcase resources.
According to Bill Wolfe, associate director of radio
ministries for UMCom, treatment of each subject will touch on
concerns of individuals with varying degrees of experience in
radio ministry.
Monica Hall, writer of UMCom's spot series "A Circle the
Heart Draws" and "Take 5;" Dennis Benson, producer of the 90-
second radio series "Passages;" Bill Richards, UMCom's director of
radio ministries; Letty LaFontaine, UMCom's director of Public
Media marketing; and Wolfe will welcome questions and opinions and
clarify concepts.
Host sites must be equipped with C-Band satellite downlink
capability and TV set or video monitor. A direct-line telephone
is necessary to participate in call-in segments.
Site coordinators may call (800) 767-5121 up to a week prior
to the teleconference for technical support.
Individuals who are unable to reach downlink sites in their
area may use any satellite dish to access "Reach Out With Radio."
Coordinates are Galaxy 9, Transponder 1, 123 degrees, frequency
3720 MHz, vertical, C-Band.
Additional information on how to tune into Galaxy 9 is
available from UMTC, New York, at (212) 870-2402; fax (212) 870-
2171.
A list of registered downlink sites, along with information
on how to register individuals or additional sites, is available
