      Second Candidate for 1997 Assembly Moderator Announced

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Just days after Peace River Presbytery opened the campaign 
for moderator of the 209th General Assembly (1997) by nominating elder D. 
Eugene Sibery, Cincinnati Presbytery has joined the fray. 
 
     At its stated meeting on July 16, the presbytery endorsed elder 
Patricia G. Brown for the highest elected office in the Presbyterian Church 
(U.S.A.).  She is on the session of Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church in 
Cincinnati. 
 
     Brown is a published writer of stories for children.  She is a 
renowned storyteller in the Cincinnati area, best known for her original 
stories about slavery and the underground railroad.  She is business 
manager for The Brown Organization, a consulting firm working with owners 
and developers of large retail and commercial properties. 
 
     Brown's church involvement is extensive.  She served on the General 
Assembly Council and its Corporate and Administrative Services committee. 
She is currently on the Advisory Committee for the News.  She just 
completed a term as moderator of Cincinnati Presbytery and directed the 
Committee on Local Arrangements for the 207th General Assembly (1995) in 
Cincinnati.
