WEST INTERIM PLTS PRESIDENT

The Rev. Robert A. West has been appointed interim president of
Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Berkeley, Calif.,
effective Sept. 1.  He will serve for the interim following the
retirement of the Rev. Jerry L. Schmalenberger until a new
president is selected.  West recently retired from 30 years of
ministry at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Denver.  He has been a
member of the seminary's board of directors since 1988.  West is
a 1951 graduate of Colgate University, Hamilton, N.Y., and a 1954
graduate of Union Theological Seminary, New York.  After post-
graduate work at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Chicago, West
was ordained in 1955 in Detroit.
