Global prayer chain planned
to support church in Hong Kong
by United Methodist News Service
The Hong Kong Christian Council is sponsoring a 1997 Global
Prayer Chain.
Among the 10 prayer requests are that:
*the church stands with the people of Hong Kong "to give
them courage and hope during this time of transition of
sovereignty";
*Christians there can continue to spread the gospel without
interference and undue restriction;
*Hong Kong will continue to enjoy freedoms guaranteed in the
Bill of Rights and Basic Law;
*social justice will be available to the most needy,
including new migrants from China, exploited workers and women
and children;
*opportunities will arise for cooperation and unity between
churches in Hong Kong and China.
To join the prayer chain, write to Hong Kong Christian
Council, 33 Granville Road, 9/F, Kowloon, Hong Kong, Attn., Ms.
Judy Chan.
