SAN ANSELMO, Calif.-- A 25th anniversary benefit dinner celebrating the 
Lloyd Center Pastoral Counseling Service will be held Nov. 21 in Alexander 
Hall at San Francisco Theological Seminary. Dr. Harriet Lerner, the 
nationally-recognized author of "The Dance of Anger," "The Dance of 
Intimacy" and "The Dance of Deception," and a senior staff psychologist at 
the Menninger Clinic,  will be the evening's speaker.  Lerner is an expert

DECATUR, Ga.-- Victor Yoon has been named associate professor of Asian 
studies and director of the Center for Asian Theology and Ministries at 
Columbia Theological Seminary.  Yoon is the first Asian to be named to the 
seminary's teaching faculty.   He holds degrees from Hankook University of 
Foreign Studies in Korea, Bethel Theological Seminary, Union Theological 
Seminary in New York and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif.

DUBUQUE, Iowa-- Jeffrey Francis Bullock has been appointed dean of the 
seminary and vice president of the University of Dubuque, assuming his 
position July 1.  Bullock came to the seminary after serving as pastor of 
the Queen Anne Presbyterian Church in Seattle, where he also served on the 
Preparation for Ministry Committee of Seattle Presbytery.  A Minnesota 
native, Bullock received his M.Div.  from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary 
and the Ph.D. in speech communication from the University of Washington. 
 
CHICAGO--Kurt A. Gabbard of Leander, Texas, has been named vice president 
of finance and operations for McCormick Theological Seminary, effective 
June 10.  Gabbard comes to McCormick after serving as director of 
development at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, a position he held 
since 1993.  Previously, he served Mary Holmes College in West Point, 
Miss., as vice president for development and for business affairs. 
 
AUSTIN, Texas-- The Board of Trustees of Austin Presbyterian Theological 
Seminary has announced completion of a capital campaign which raised more 
than $5 million toward the construction and maintenance of the James I. And 
Hazel McCord Community Center.  More than 470 donors contributed to the 
campaign, which began in 1993.  The center is slated for an October 
dedication. 
 
RICHMOND, Va.-- Union Theological Seminary in Virginia and the School of 
Theology of Virginia Union University are offering a dual degree program in 
prison ministry with Virginia Commonwealth University this fall.  Students 
who complete the four-year program will earn an M.Div. from one of the 
seminaries and a master of science in criminal justice from Virginia 
Commonwealth University. Initiated by the Rev. Louis Weeks, president of 
Union Seminary, the program has been designed by faculty from all three 
institutions in response to rapidly growing prison populations. 
 
LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- Christopher Elwood has joined the Louisville Seminary 
faculty this fall as assistant professor in historical theology.  A 
life-long Presbyterian, Elwood received his M.Div. and his doctorate of 
theology at Harvard University, where he has been teaching in the area of 
historical theology.  Elwood specializes in religious thought and history 
of the 16th century, particularly the Renaissance background of Reformation 
thought. 
 
ATLANTA--A new endowed scholarship fund has been established at the Johnson 
C. Smith Theological Seminary in recognition of the life, work and ministry 
of Dr. G. Benjamin Brooks.  Friends of Brooks presented the seminary with a 
$40,000 check as part of a retirement celebration for Brooks' 37 years of 
ministry as pastor of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Ariz.
