HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.--Trinity Presbyterian churches -- 25 of them from all
around the country -- have so far contributed just over $2,000 to Project
Trinity, benefiting Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in San Diego
Presbytery.
The 300-member Spring Valley Church was destroyed by an arson fire
last March. The blaze was unrelated to the recent rash of arson attacks on
African-American churches in the U.S. "Our arsonist is known to us and we
are working through the process of forgiveness," said the Rev. Randal
Yenter, pastor of Spring Valley.
The Project Trinity campaign was initiated in May by the session of
Trinity Presbyterian Church of Hendersonville, N.C. The session sent a
letter seeking contributions in the name of Presbyterian connectionalism
and the shared Trinity moniker to the 134 other Trinity Presbyterian
churches in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
The letter also opened the door to future creative ways that the
Trinitys can work together to support various projects.
Gifts for Spring Valley's rebuilding through the Trinity Project may
be sent to Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, 3902 Kenwood Drive, Spring
Valley, CA 91977.
