Display in Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Presbyterians participated prominently in the AIDS
Memorial Quilt Display of the Names Project in the nation's capitol Oct.
11-13.
The Presbyterian AIDS Network (PAN), a constituent member of the
Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association, in cooperation with
the Office of Health Ministries in the National Ministries Division, hosted
one of the booths in the educational pavilion during the three-day event.
The booth, one of several hosted by religious organizations, featured AIDS
ministry resources developed by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
PAN leaders also participated in the reading of the names of those who
have died from AIDS -- the AIDS quilt memorializes some 70,000. Also
participating in the reading of the names was the Rev. John M. Buchanan,
current moderator of the General Assembly.
The Rev. Howard M. Warren, an AIDS hospice chaplain from Indianapolis,
preached at an Oct. 13 interfaith worship service at Westminster
Presbyterian Church held in conjunction with the quilt display.
The Office of Health Ministries will produce a video to document
Presbyterian participation in the the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt
Display. For information, call the Rev. David Zuverink in Louisville at
(502) 569-5793.
