United Methodist joins team
in 'Fast for Rebuilding'

                    by United Methodist News Service

Dianne Roe, a United Methodist from Corning, N.Y., and other
members of the Christian Peacemaker Team (CPT) in Hebron, West
Bank, started a 700-hour public fast March 1 on behalf of 700
Palestinian families.
Demolition orders have been issued for the homes of the
families, which are adjacent to Israeli settlements or bypass
roads. According to the CPT, the demolition is in violation of the
Oslo II Peace Accords between Israelis and Palestinians.
The "Fast for Rebuilding" will continue through Easter
morning. It calls for Israel to stop demolishing Palestinian
homes, rebuilding already-demolished homes and rebuilding both
Palestinian identity and wider Palestinian-Israeli relationships.
Hebron team members are asking their supporters in North
America to join in their campaign of fasting, prayer and action on
behalf of Palestinian families facing home demolitions.
Christian Peacemaker Teams is an initiative among Mennonite
and Church of the Brethren congregations and Friends meetings that
supports violence reduction efforts around the world. For more
