New handbook profiles United
Methodist educational institutions

     NASHVILLE (UMNS) -- Students looking to become familiar with
United Methodist educational institutions and the opportunities
they offer can look to a new 1997 college directory for
information.
     The Handbook of United Methodist-Related Schools, Colleges,
Universities, and Theological Schools, is a 338-page illustrated
introduction to each of the 124 institutions of learning related
to the United Methodist Church.
     The handbook, produced by the United Methodist Division of
Higher Education, here, includes an overview of each institution;
a chart listing general areas of study and the degrees offered;
and a guide to United Methodist student loans and scholarships.
     "The handbook will be a valuable resource for church members
to learn about our institutions of higher education and the
educational opportunities available through them," said the Rev.
James Noseworthy, a director in the division.
     The handbook is intended as a tool for both students and
parents. A copy has been sent to every United Methodist church and
should be available in the pastor's library. Individual copies can
be ordered from Cokesbury at (800) 672-1789. Cost is $5 including
postage.
