United Methodist pastor to
perform baptism at White House

by Jane Dennis*

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (UMNS) -- A retired United Methodist pastor
from Hot Springs, Ark., is scheduled to conduct what is believed
to be the first service of baptism for an infant or child at the
White House.
The Rev. John Miles, will baptize Tyler Cassidy Clinton, the
son of Molly D'Ann Martin Clinton and Roger Cassidy Clinton, the
president's brother, on Easter Sunday, March 30. The godparents
are William Jefferson Clinton, president of the United States, and
Nancy Martin Reeves.
Tyler, who is President Clinton's nephew, was born May 12,
1994. Roger, Molly and Tyler Clinton live in California.
Miles, a retired clergy member of the Little Rock Annual
Conference, performed Roger and Molly Clinton's marriage ceremony
and is a long-time friend of the Clinton family.
Miles and his wife, JoAnn, will be overnight guests at the
White House. The service of baptism is planned after the
presidential party attends Sunday morning worship services and
gathers for a brunch at the White House.
