Oklahoma City memorial quilts
to highlight April 12 teleconference

     Quilts created in memory of the 19 children killed in the
Oklahoma City bombing two years ago will be presented to
representatives of mission institutions around the world as part
of a satellite teleconference during Global Gathering III in
Kansas City.
     The teleconference, to be aired April 12, also will feature
music from 12 different countries. The event will begin with a
preview at 8 p.m. (Eastern Time), followed by the main program
from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
     Global Gathering III, an April 10-13 mission event, will draw
more than 4,000 participants to Kansas City. It is sponsored by
the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries.
     Susan Lucky, a member of First United Methodist Church,
Stillwater, Okla., is the creator of "Legacy of Hope," the
memorial quilt project. The quilts previously had been displayed
in Oklahoma City and at the 1996 United Methodist General
Conference in Denver.
     United Methodist institutions or projects in the United
States that will receive a quilt are Camp Aldersgate in Little
Rock, Ark.; Gum Moon Residence, San Francisco; Tampa (Fla.) United
Methodist Center; Moore Community House, Biloxi, Miss.; Epworth
Village, Inc., York, Neb.; Bethlehem Community Center,
Spartanburg, S.C.; Wesley Community Center, Houston; Wesley
Community Center, Robstown, Texas, and Northcott Neighborhood
House, Milwaukee, Wis.
     International groups receiving quilts will be Guri School for
Special Children, Rosario, Argentina; San Bernardo Campo Street
Children Program, Brazil; Education for Brazilian Methodist
Church; Grace Children Hospital, Port of Prince, Haiti;
Opportunity School for Retarded Children, Madras, India; Middle
East Council of Churches, Jerusalem Office; United Methodist
Church in Burundi; Edna Thomas Christian Development, the
Philippines; Garden of Hope Foundation, Bangkok, Thailand, and the
United Methodist Church in Zaire, Goma Children's Village.
     People interested in participating in the April 12
teleconference should call their United Methodist annual
conference or district office about local downlink sites.
     Coordinates will be C-Band Satellite, GE 1, Transponder 22
and KU Band Satellite, SBS6, Transponder 15, 74 degrees.
