Kansas clergy couple appointed
jointly to district superintendency

                 by United Methodist News Service

The Revs. Jack and Marilyn Gregory are the first clergy
couple appointed to share a common United Methodist district
superintendency.
The Gregories will follow the Rev. Jack Stoneking who has
been superintendent of the Topeka District the denomination's
Kansas East Annual Conference since 1992. They currently are
serving as pastors of Trinity United Methodist Church, Kansas
City, Kan.
In addition to serving the district, they will be appointed
to serve a congregation that will be named later.
"We enjoy working as co-pastors and look forward to bringing
our experience to the superintendency," said the Gregories.
Ordained in 1974, they have served churches as a clergy
couple through their entire ministry.
Kansas Area Bishop Fritz Mutti made the appointment, which
becomes effective in June.
Mutti said, "I have been waiting for the opportunity for a
clergy couple to co-lead a district. This seems to be the time."
The district committee is excited about the possibilities of this
new form of ministry, he said.
