     INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- New York Yankee centerfielder Bernie
Williams tells The Disciple magazine in its April issue that he would rather
play
in Carnegie Hall than Yankee Stadium.

     A classical guitar player, Williams -- hero of last year's American
League
championship series -- says he makes a living out of baseball, but music is
his first
love. "Definitely," he told the magazine.

     Member of a Disciples of Christ congregation in Bayamon, Puerto Rico,
where his sister-in-law is the pastor, Williams was interviewed by magazine
editor
Robert L. Friedly in Puerto Rico prior to the April baseball season opener.

     Williams, 28, plays Mozart and Vivaldi and has his eye on going to
Berkeley, Calif., to study jazz once his baseball days are done. Williams'
wife
plays choruses in the Sunday worship at Sabana Church, pastored by Damaris
Ortega, his wife's sister. He accompanies his wife Waleska when she solos in
church.

     The baseball player advises young people to keep focused and not to
succumb to peer pressure about drugs and other activities that would lead them
astray.
