          General Assembly Committees, Leaders Announced

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The business of the 209th General Assembly (1997) will be 
handled by 17 Assembly Committees, according to a design drawn up recently 
by the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly (COGA). 
 
     The Assembly convenes in Syracuse, N.Y., June 14 and is scheduled to 
adjourn at noon on June 21.  It must approve the proposed committee 
structure. 
 
     COGA and 1996 General Assembly moderator the Rev. John M. Buchanan 
have also announced commissioners chosen to serve as moderators and 
vice-moderators of the Assembly Committees and volunteers from around the 
church to serve as committee assistants and resource coordinators.  The
