United Methodist discipleship
board launches Internet site

     Nashville (UMNS) -- The United Methodist Board of
Discipleship officially entered the electronic age May 19 with the
launch of a web site on the Internet.
     The site will feature information about events, programs, and
resources in a number of ministry areas served by the board.  The
site will also announce the employment opportunities available at
the agency.
     The United Methodist Board of Discipleship may be accessed at 
http://www.gbod.org on the World Wide Web. The site also may be
accessed through the Upper Room home page at
http://www.upperroom.org.
     Areas that "went live" on May 19 include ministries for
family, children, youth and adults; camping and retreat
ministries; Christian education; stewardship; worship; and Quest
for Quality.
     Scheduled to be added over the next several weeks are areas
including evangelism, ethnic local church concerns, generational
studies, ministry of the laity and the small membership church.
     Future plans for the site include adding chat rooms and
online registration for events.
