NCC GENERAL SECRETARY `SADDENED AND ANGERED' BY SUICIDE 
BOMBINGS

 NEW YORK, September 5 ---- The General Secretary 
of the National Council of Churches, the Rev. Dr. Joan 
Brown Campbell, sent a letter of condolence today to 
Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, saying that 
she has been "saddened and angered deeply" by 
yesterday's triple suicide bombing in Jerusalem.  

Dr. Campbell wrote to Prime Minister Netanyahu from 
Jerusalem where she and nine other members of a 
National Council of Churches delegation were completing 
an August 24-September 8 visit to the Middle East to 
affirm and renew ties with church partners in the 
region.

Your Excellency,

While visiting the Holy Land as a member of an NCCCUSA 
delegation, I have been saddened and angered deeply by 
the suicide bombings in Ben Yehuda Street yesterday 
which took several lives and injured scores more.

Such acts of violence are violations of the sanctity of 
human life, of God's love for us, of God's desire that 
we should dwell in love and peace with one another.

On behalf of the delegation, I offer our prayers for 
the dead and injured, and our sincere condolences to 
the grieving families who have lost their loved ones.  
We pray that God may be with them in their grief.

May God bless all the people of this land and preserve 
them in peace.
