    A Celebration of Evangelism Comes to The Twin Cities

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Those in the upper Midwest with a heart for evangelism, 
a passion to reach the unchurched or a desire to see renewal bring lasting 
impact on their congregation and community will gather here Oct. 8-11 for 
"Propelled by the Winds of God: A Celebration of Evangelism." 
 
    This Celebration of Evangelism, the latest in a series of evangelism 
events co-sponsored by the Evangelism and Church Development (ECD) Program 
Area of the National Ministries Division in Louisville, middle governing 
bodies and Presbyterians for Renewal (PFR), is open to people of all 
denominations and will include workshops, drama, music, Bible study and 
worship. 
 
    Tex Sample, well-known speaker, author and professor at St. Paul School 
of Theology in Kansas City, Mo., will serve as keynote speaker. Sample will 
also offer workshops on "Ministry in an Oral Culture" and "Ministry in an 
Electronic Culture." 
 
    Eighteen other workshops, on topics as diverse as justice and 
evangelism, spirituality and evangelism, and "creating an environment for 
change" round out the conference schedule. 
 
    Other dynamic leaders for this four-day event include the Rev. Joan 
SalmonCampbell, pastor of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, 
Ohio, and moderator of the 201st General Assembly (1989) of the 
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); the Rev. Lonnie Oliver, pastor of New Life 
Presbyterian Church in College Park, Georgia; and the Rev. Virgil Cruz, 
retired professor of Old Testament at the Louisville Presbyterian 
Theological Seminary and former president of PFR. 
 
    "Propelled by the Winds of God" is sponsored by ECD in partnership with 
the Synod of Lakes and Prairies and its 16 member presbyteries, 967 
congregations and more than 198,000 members in Minnesota, Iowa, North 
Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wisconsin and parts of Michigan and 
Montana.
