                       Notes about People

    Sallie Cuaresma from Gardena, Calif., is the new associate for Native 
American congregational enhancement in the National Ministries Division in 
Louisville. 
    She is Cherokee and an elder at the Native American Ministry Project in 
Los Angeles.  A member of the Task Force on Building Community Among 
Strangers of the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy, she is a past 
moderator of the Native American Consulting Committee and a past member of 
the Task Force on Native American Ministry and the National Presbyterian 
Racial Ethnic Cross Caucus.  She was also a member of the Planning 
Committee for the Third Triennial Racial Ethnic Convocation, which was held 
in Louisville, Ky.,  in August of 1996.

    The Rev. Syngman Rhee, associate director of the Worldwide Ministries 
Division in Louisville, has accepted an appointment as visiting professor 
of evangelism and mission at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian 
School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va.  He will also develop a 
program and Center for Asian-American Ministries and Mission for the 
institution, serving as the Center's director. 
    A native of Korea, Rhee has served on the national staff of the 
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) since 1973.  Prior to that he served as pastor 
of two churches in Louisville and as campus minister and teacher at the 
University of Louisville.
