Kristin E. Searfoss, assistant editor of "The Presbyterian Layman," has
been terminated, effective Oct. 31. She was notified of her dismissal in
mid-September. Searfoss, who has multiple sclerosis, could no longer stand
the physical rigors of her job, said "The Presbyterian Layman" editor the
Rev. Parker Williamson.
"Kristin Searfoss has been a valuable employee for four years. She is
a person of integrity and outstanding journalistic skills," Williamson told
the Presbyterian News Service. "She has faced her physical disability with
faith and courage. She leaves our employ with our gratitude for her
services and our prayers for her future."
Searfoss declined to comment, saying that she has been advised "not to
talk to the press about this yet."
She will move from Lenoir, N.C., to Nashville, Tenn., and has agreed to
write occasionally on a free-lance basis for the Presbyterian News Service.
