New Video Promotes Christmas Joy Offering
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--"Go Tell It On the Mountain," a 15-minute video
highlighting the ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) racial/ethnic
schools and colleges, has been released by Interlink Media of Haddonfield,
N.J., to promote the 1997 Christmas Joy Offering.
The offering supports eight Presbyterian racial/ethnic schools and
colleges and the assistance programs administered by the Board of Pensions
for the special and emergency needs of church workers.
The video is free to congregations and may be ordered by calling
Presbyterian Distribution Service at 1-800-524-2612.
"Go Tell It On the Mountain" weaves together the faith stories of
students attending Presbyterian racial/ethnic schools; James Garvin, a
retired Native American missionary who is currently president of Menaul
School in Albuquerque, N.M.; and several pastors whose ministries have been
greatly influenced by Presbyterian racial/ethnic schools and colleges.
The video was designed to be used during worship, at church dinners and
in session meetings and adult education classes. Youth ministry and
Christian education workers will find a variety of uses for the video
throughout the year, according to Interlink Media president the Rev. J.W.
Gregg Meister.
More information about the Christmas Joy Offering is obtainable by
calling Sandra Moak Sorem, coordinator for mission interpretation and
promotion in Louisville, at (502) 569-5200 or the Rev. Paul Stavrakos, vice
president for church relations for the Board of Pensions in Philadelphia,
at 1-800-773-7752.
