Resource Team for Spiritual
Formation Is Announced
by Julian Shipp
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Officials in the Congregational Ministries Division (CMD)
here recently announced the creation of the "Resource Team for Spiritual
Formation," made up of eight volunteers selected to work in spiritual
formation across the denomination.
The group previously had been known as the Leadership Corps of the now
defunct Institute for Christian Formation, which was located at Stony
Point, N.Y.
"An institute implies not only a specific location, but also a
curriculum," said Anne Bateman Noss, associate director of the CMD's
Christian Faith and Life Program Area. "Instead, the team will be available
in their own settings to encourage existing programs of spiritual formation
and to initiate workshops and retreats as appropriate.
"In discussion with the team, we decided on a name which reflects their
functions," Noss said, "for they serve as resources to those members,
congregations and middle governing bodies with whom they make contact."
The program is coordinated by the Rev. Brad Kent, associate for
spiritual formation. Kent can be reached at the Presbyterian Center at
(502) 569-5384 or by e-mail to BradK@ctr.pcusa.org
Members of the Resource Team are the Rev. John Ackerman of Minneapolis;
the Rev. Robert Fernandez of Grenada Hills, Calif.; the Rev. Paula Owens
Parker of Richmond, Va.; Joy White Pruett of Gainesville, Ga.; Ruth
Russling of Bethlehem, Pa.; Lyta G. Seddig of Meadville, Pa.; the Rev.
Sidney D. Skirvin of Pueblo, Colo.; and Betty Lou Stull of Wooster, Ohio.
