BATESVILLE, Ark.--Dr. Ruth A. Schmidt of Decatur, Ga., a member of the Lyon 
College board of trustees, has assumed the office of interim president of 
Lyon College. Schmidt began work at Lyon on Jan. 5. and will lead the 
college until a new president takes office, about  July 1, 1998. Former 
Lyon president Dr. John V. Griffith resigned the position on Dec. 31, 1997, 
to become president of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. A search 
committee, appointed by the executive committee of the college's board of 
trustees, has begun the process of seeking a new Lyon College president. 
Schmidt is president emerita of Agnes Scott College. She retired from the 
post in 1994, after 12 years as president of the prestigious women's 
college in Decatur, Ga. She has served on the Lyon College board of 
trustees since 1993. 
 
MARYVILLE, Tenn.--For the third straight year, Maryville College has 
received a gift from the John & Nevils Wilson Foundation, a Texas-based 
organization. The $3,000 gift is designated for the Center for Campus 
Ministry Restoration Fund. The foundation's 1995 gift was the first for the 
CCM Fund.
