GENEVA, March 10, 1998 (lwi) - In view of the unfolding "tragic events" in
the province of Kosovo, the general secretaries of - The Lutheran World
Federation (LWF), the World Council of Churches (WCC) and Conference of
European Churches (CEC) - appealed to church leaders and members in the

contribute to a peaceful and negotiated solution to the civil violence.

The joint letter signed by LWF general secretary, Ishmael Noko, WCC general
secretary, Konrad Raiser, and CEC general secretary, Keith Clements,
states: "Furthermore, we recognize and share the concern that the

be respected."
