The destruction caused by El Nino-related storms this winter has nearly
depleted the supplies of the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

UMCOR and its donors have provided goods, financial aid, volunteer help
and pastoral care to victims of tornadoes in Florida, Georgia and North
Carolina, and floods in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

The agency needs supplies for its warehouse in Louisiana as well as cash
donations for cleaning materials, according to Bob Blair, an UMCOR
volunteer.

For example, he reported, UMCOR recently bought three truckloads of
cleaning supplies for use in the flooded areas of Alabama, Georgia and
Florida.

Donated goods may be sent directly to UMCOR's Depot at 131 Sager-Brown
Road, Baldwin, La. 70514. For a list of needed goods and shipping
instructions, call (800) 814-8765.

Cleaning supplies are particularly needed for flood victims in 51 South
Georgia counties. UMCOR is collecting mops, brooms, detergents and
disinfectants, along with baby supplies, including disposable diapers,
food, oils and powders. Used clothing is not being accepted.

Donated goods for the Georgia counties should be sent to the UMCOR
warehouse at 1600 S. Slappey Blvd. in Albany, Ga. For more information
on shipping, call (912) 446-8955.

Cash donations can be made to a special fund for all recent domestic
disasters caused by El Nino, Advance No. 982328-6, and can be earmarked
for specific states.

People interested in volunteer work can call (800) 918-3100.
