    1997 Presbyterian Foundation Receipts Break Record

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.-Total gifts and deposits to the Presbyterian Church 
(U.S.A.) Foundation last year totaled nearly $138 million, breaking the 
previous year's record for money taken in by the Foundation. 
 
    New gifts to the Foundation totaled $51,078,702 in 1997 and Investment 
Management Service (IMS) deposits - investment funds managed by the 
Foundation on behalf of investors - increased by $10 million to 
$86,763,764. 
 
    Total Presbyterian Foundation assets also reached a high water mark of 
$1.58 billion. 
 
    As a result, the Foundation released $118.1 million in proceeds from 
those investments to Presbyterian mission projects around the world - 
another record.  Nearly $420 million has been distributed by the Foundation 
over the past five years.
