    First in a Series of Churchwide Theology Conferences Set

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The first in a series of theology conferences on "The 
Confessional Nature of the Church" is scheduled for March 20 at Wayne 
Presbyterian Church in Wayne, Pa. 
 
    Churchwide theology conferences are also set for May 8 at First 
Presbyterian Church in Torrance, Calif., and May 29 at Clairmont 
Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Ga.  Additional conferences will be 
scheduled in the fall of 1998 and the winter of 1999 in several other 
locations. 
 
    Featured speakers at the first three conferences will be the Rev. 
Joseph Small, coordinator of the Office of Theology and Worship in the 
Congregational Ministries Division here, who will speak on "The Church's 
Conversation with the Confessions," and Ellen Charry, associate professor 
of systematic theology at Princeton Theological Seminary, who will speak on 
"Our Confessional Heritage and the Incarnation." 
 
    Each daylong conference will begin and end with worship.  In Wayne and 
Decatur, General Assembly stated clerk the Rev. Clifton Kirkpatrick will 
preach at opening worship. 
 
    The conferences are designed to explore the place of the confessions in 
the life of the church and in personal faith. 
 
    The cost of the conference is $35 and includes lunch.  For more
