In an April 21 awards ceremony here during the ACP annual convention,

The magazine also won two Awards of Excellence (first place) - in the

Cottingham) for the September 1997 issue, an Honorable Mention (third
place) in the "Department" category for "Spotlight" (edited by Stimson),
and an Honorable Mention in the "Magazine Graphics: Entire Issue" category
for the October 1997 issue. Linda Crittenden is the magazine's designer
and art director.

an Award of Excellence in the "Feature Article: News Service or Newsletter"
category for editor Linda Post-Bushkofsky's article, "Mending Fences,
Healing Hearts," in the July 1997 issue.
In addition to its Best in Class award, the Presbyterian News Service
(coordinated by the Rev. Jerry Van Marter) won an Honorable Mention in the
"News Story" category for Alexa Smith's article, "Bloodbath in Colombia
Threatens Presbyterian Workers," in the June 20, 1997, issue of "NEWS
BRIEFS."
"Church & Society" magazine, edited by the Rev. Kathy Lancaster, won an
Award of Excellence in the "Mission Statement" category for best fulfilling
