Internet Launch for UK Day of Prayer
For Immediate Release: 29/5/98

A prayer meeting on the Internet has been launched today, marking the
start of two weeks of concentrated prayer for the UK, either side of
next Sunday's nationwide day of prayer.

Amen! A Day To Pray is the first nationwide day of prayer for the UK
in 50 years. The Internet prayer meeting (at
www.churchnet.org.uk/amen) is one of a number of creative initiatives
springing up in support of the day.

In London, Christians will gather outside the Houses of Parliament at
9:00am on Sunday 7th June, to pray for politicians and their support
staff from all parties who work there. That follows a special prayer
service in Westminster which will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Four.

In Honiton, Devon, churches are uniting to open an old church on a
hill overlooking the town so that Christians and members of the public
can turn up between 7:30am and 10:00pm and pray for their town.

Other prayer events are taking place in nursing homes, prisons and
army garrisons.
