Brevard College placement officer receives graduate scholarship

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) -- Pamela G. Johnson, placement officer at
Brevard (N.C.) College,  is the 12th  recipient of a graduate
scholarship award given annually to a woman pursuing a leadership role
at a United Methodist-related college or university.

Johnson,  a member of First United Methodist Church, Hendersonville,
N.C., is working on a doctoral degree in higher education administration
at North Carolina State University. 

She will be presented the $5,000 Esther E. Edwards Graduate Scholarship
for the 1998-99 academic year during an annual Institute of Higher
Education in Nashville June 15-17.  The institute is sponsored by the
Division of Higher Education of the churchwide Board of Higher Education
and Ministry. Edwards, after whom the scholarship is named, is the
retired director of the board's Office of Loans and Scholarship.
