LAURINBURG, N.C.- A $500,000 matching challenge grant from The Morgan
Foundation of Laurel Hill propelled this year's Laurinburg Area Campaign
for St. Andrews Presbyterian College to success, raising more than $1
million in all for the college. Nearly 100 volunteers from Laurinburg and
Scotland County worked on the campaign. "This was the incentive that we
needed," Hasty said, referring to the $500,000 matching challenge. "This
made the job easy. With the support of The Morgan Foundation, how could we
fail?"

MONMOUTH, Ill.-A renovation of the student snack bar highlights more than
$900,000 in construction projects that will take place on the Monmouth
College campus this summer. Other projects include construction of two new
parking lots, installation of new lighting along Broadway and North Ninth
Street, addition of gallery space for a permanent art exhibit and new
dugouts on the softball field. The estimated cost to complete the project
is $901,000. This is in addition to work already scheduled on the Peacock
Athletic Park, the LeSuer Biology Field Station and the Mellinger Teaching
and Learning Center.

RALEIGH, N.C.-Peace College has received a $250,000 gift from Perry and
Dukie Sloan of Durham, N.C., to establish the Dr. William Crompton Bennett
Chaplaincy Endowment as part of Peace's "Pathways to Excellence" capital
campaign. The endowment will be used to supplement the salary of the
chaplain, who will be named the Dr. William Crompton Bennett Chaplain. The
endowment honors Bennett, retired pastor of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian
Church in Durham and a former Peace trustee. Mr. and Mrs. Sloan are members
of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church and longtime supporters of Peace
College. Their gift is a leadership gift to the college's "Pathways to
Excellence" campaign, which has to date raised $9.7 million toward its
$14.5 million goal.
