     INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- Memorial services for the Rev.
Deloris A. Turner, 48, will be 7 p.m. today (July 1) at Central
Christian Church, Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be in Martinsville,
Va. 

     Turner, who was pastor of Central Christian Church, died
June 29 after a lengthy struggle with cancer. She had served the
Kansas City congregation since 1988, after a five-year stint 
(1983-1988)
as associate regional minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of 
Christ) 
in Indiana.  

     The Virginia native held a bachelor's degree (1972) from
North Carolina A&T and a master of divinity degree (1982) from
Lexington (Ky.) Theological Seminary.  Before entering ministry
Turner was a public school teacher. 

     She has been secretary of the Black Minister's Fellowship
and was a former member of the General Board and the Homeland
Ministries board of directors. Turner also served as first vice
moderator and moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) in Greater Kansas City.

     Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian
Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
