A "step-by-step" guide to creating religiously based home pages on the
World Wide Web will be part of "Dancing on the Web 2 - The Second
Step."

The satellite teleconference will air Sept. 22 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Eastern time. Sponsors are United Methodist Communications, the Religion
Communicators Council (formerly Religious Public Relations Council) and
UMR Communications, the parent company of the United Methodist Reporter.

The first "Dancing on the Web" teleconference in March drew viewers at
more than 100 downlink sites. Evaluations from that teleconference
helped shape the September event, according to Shirley Whipple Struchen,
executive producer.

"What we heard from the audience ... is they still want very, very basic
information, almost starting with a blank screen," she said.

Along with step-by-step instruction on creating an inviting home page,
teleconference leaders will encourage participants to consider the
purpose of such a page, the audience they want to reach and the
promotion needed to attract visitors to a Web site.

The use of artwork, photos and graphics; selections of typeface; and
samples of hardware, software and Internet services also will be
offered, along with helpful hints that "really boil down to good theory
in any kind of design," Struchen said.

The format of the event includes prepared video with monitor screen
close-ups, technical demonstrations and interactive call-in segments. A
resource packet will provide additional materials.

Returning as Dancing on the Web moderator is the Rev. Arthur L. Cribbs
Jr., executive director of the Office of Communications of the United
Church of Christ in Cleveland. Cribbs is responsible for directing his
office's efforts in public relations, marketing and education, video,
radio, and media justice and the denominational newspaper.

On-air panelists are:
*	the Rev. Keith Head, associate editor for multimedia publishing
at UMR Communications. Head leads workshops and creates Web design for
local churches and church-related institutions.
*	Susan McReynolds, a senior multimedia designer and trainer for
UMR Communications. McReynolds has more than 15 years of experience in
print publications, along with a graphic arts degree.
*	Barbara Nissen, a resource consultant with the Conference
Resourcing Team at United Methodist Communications. Nissen, a
communicator for nearly 30 years, is a member of the Board of Governors
of the Religion Communicators Council.
