LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Devoted Service Awards were presented to two synod
moderators and to the 145th commencement speaker at Louisville Presbyterian
Theological Seminary's graduation service May 17 at the Harvey Browne
Memorial Presbyterian Church. Recipients were Richard Fifield, moderator
of the Synod of Living Waters; Walter McQuie, moderator of the Synod of
Mid-America; and Cordell Wynn, professor emeritus of Stillman College in
Tuscaloosa, Ala., the commencement speaker.
RICHMOND, Va.-The Rev. Douglas W. Oldenburg, moderator of the 210th General
Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), will speak at an anniversary
luncheon at the Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of
Christian Education, Oct. 5. Called "A Century in the City," the event
marks the 100th anniversary of the move of Union Seminary from
Hampden-Sydney College to Richmond. Oldenburg graduated from Union
Seminary in 1960.
PITTSBURGH, Pa.-Two professors of preaching at the Pittsburgh Theological
Seminary will run private preaching critiques from mid-September to May
1999 as part of the seminary's continuing education program. The cost is
$15 per half hour for private consultations with Robert M. Ezzell,
assistant professor of homiletics, and Richard J. Oman, Howard C. Scharfe

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque honored three outstanding faculty
members during the annual William J. and Ruth E. Svrluga Faculty Hall of
Fame program, May 14. Recipients were Roger P. Ebertz, associate professor
of philosophy, the John Knox Coit Prize; Bradley J. Longfield, associate
professor of church history and interim dean of the seminary and vice
president of the university, the William L. Lomax Award; and William N.
Berg, professor emeritus, the Alumni Distinguished Faculty Award.
AUSTIN, Texas-William N.A. Greenway is the new visiting professor of
Christian studies at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Eligible to
teach in any of the seminary's three academic degree programs, Greenway
will have primary oversight of the seminary's master of arts degree
program. Greenway began June 1.
DECATUR, Ga.-William Frank Harrington and Charles Logan Landrum were
recipients of the Distinquished Service Award given by the Columbia
Theological Seminary Alumni/ae Association, April 20. Harrington has been
pastor of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta for the past 26
years. Under his leadership, it has become the largest church in the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Landrum, a 1934 graduate, has served five
pastorates and several interim pastorates and established endowment funds
at two colleges and two seminaries, including Columbia.
