Resource on Women's Organizing in the Church Published
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE, Ky.-"Years of Strong Effort," an historical reflection on
women's organizing efforts in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) between 1967
and 1993, has been published by the Women's Advocacy Office of the National
Ministries Division.
Written by Annette Chapman-Adisho, a former intern in the Women's
Advocacy Office who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in history at the
University of Illinois-Chicago, "Years of Strong Effort" traces the
development of various women's groups that emerged during this 25-year
period in the church.
The restructuring of 1993 essentially brought to an end these
organizing efforts at the national level of the denomination.
"Years of Strong Effort" costs $10 and is obtainable from Presbyterian
Distribution Service at 1-800-524-2612. Ask for product number PDS
